You want to experience greater happiness and well-being, right? Who doesn’t? Innergy Meditation’s nine-week MBSR training starts January 12th, and gives you the keys.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a scientifically proven, therapeutic system of mindfulness meditation that helps us develop better coping skills for the times when life throws us those unwanted curveballs: stress, anxiety, physical pain or illness, and so forth. And let’s face it, sooner or later we all experience one or more of these things.
Grounded in ancient techniques and tested in the fire of modern scientific laboratories and studies, MBSR has grown to receive worldwide acclaim for its proven benefits.
Developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the 1970s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR combines mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and physical movement to help us become more mindful.
The program is taught in a series of 9 sessions over the course of 9 weeks, with the final session being a day-long silent “retreat” style practice intensive.
According to founder Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR program participants consistently report “a heightened sense of self and self-in-relationship, and a greater ability to find coherence and act effectively under high degrees of stress,” along with a “greater sense of coherence” and “enhanced psychological hardiness.” And studies have shown that these gains are maintained during three years of follow-up.
As Miami’s leading meditation-only studio and a home for mindfulness in the Magic City, Innergy Meditation is is offering its first-ever 9-week training in MBSR, with expert coach Lucas Irwin from the University of Miami’s UMindfulness program. Lucas brings a wealth of teaching experience and knowledge about mindfulness and MBSR, and will skillfully guide us through this structured program.
The training is open to all and no previous experience is required. Even if you’re not currently dealing with stress, anxiety, chronic pain or illness, you will benefit from learning and practicing the techniques of MBSR. A stronger sense of self and heightened empathy for others will help you feel happier now, and make you better prepared to cope with adverse circumstances when they do come along.
